Undoubtedly the home of British Wakeboarding, this year Quayside Wakeboard and Waterski will be hosting the second and final stop of the UK Boat Pro Wakeboard Tour 2010.  With over £13000 worth of cash in the pot, this pro only contest is the biggest tour of its kind in Europe, and will be showcasing the best of British wakeboarding.  With perfect riding conditions, awesome atmosphere and a party venue right next door, this event is sure going to finish the season in style!

Relentless Energy Drinks have gotten on board as the main sponsor, plus there will be DJs and live music, Double Up Comp, System 2.0 best trick, and of course the main event which consists of all the UK’s best battling it out and throwing down some hammers behind the fully loaded Mastercraft X2 wakeboard boat!

The Event will kick off on Saturday the 4th of September at 10am so be sure to get down early to secure your best viewing spot. Camping will be available at the cost of £15.00 per tent per night but spaces will be limited so contact the Quays for your camping pass. (01252 524375)

The first ever UK Girls Ride Day took place on Saturday 17th July at Quayside Wakeboard & Waterski. With over 25 girls riding, and many more in tow, the place was overflowing with ladies! We had exclusive use of the cable for girls only, prize giveaways from O’neill and Kesvegas, free drinks from Relentless, demo boards from Hyperlite, plenty of hotdogs, games and of course a great playlist!

With lots of girls to get though, we cracked straight on with the riding at midday. For some of the girls this was their first time at wakeboarding, yet after a quick land lesson they got straight out on the water. Huge thanks must go to super-star Sarah Kingdom who was on hand with coaching all day, ensuring that every girl was up and loving it in no time. It was great to see girls like Alise, Mavis, Kei and Larissa tearing it up even on their first times ever on a wakeboard!

Whilst not on the water, the girls were kept entertained by a number of fun games including shooting-hoops and ‘limbo for life-jackets’! The girls were obviously desperate to win an awesome O’neill life-vest, as the limbo standard was out of this world. Never have I seen girls get so low, with sisters Naomi and Emily battling it out until they had to admit to a shared victory. They may say that girls aren’t as competitive as boys, but this was definitely not the case in the basketball shoot-offs! There were girls eagerly trying to shoot hoops left right and centre, until we had to resort to sudden-death to get our final winner! With a riders raffle and wakeboarding trivia going on all day, Millie, Hannah, Stacey, Emily and many others were also lucky enough to win themselves more Kesvegas and O’neill goodies!

All in all, the day was a great success. It was cool to see girls like Hannah, Sam and Claudia busting out raleys on the System 2.0, inspiring others to give it a go. Big thanks must to go Phil and Dan for their help and support on the cable all day, Christian for cooking us a sweet BBQ and Sam for the amazing cupcakes. Located just off the M3 (J4) in Mytchett, Surrey, the venue of our Quayside Adventure Camp is a  73 acres site which includes a sheltered lake and straight line cable tow making it an ideal venue for various adventurous activities and sports including waterskiing, wakeboarding canoeing, raft building, camp building and survival skills.

The programme for each day will consist of around 5 activities ranging from canoeing, bush craft skills, rafting to walking on water in one of our Waterwalkerz!

The day starts at 9:00am by meeting the instructors who will be in charge of the group. We think that the relationship with the instructors is a really important part of the experience

Next you will be straight into some ‘getting to know you games’ which as the name suggests makes sure all the group knows each other sooner rather later in the day.

The day finishes at 5:00pm and you are collected well exercised, slightly grubby or perhaps even more and certainly very happy.

We do ask you to book ahead as places fill up fast. A change of clothing is essential as is your swimming kit, towel and packed lunch.

It is also advisable for children to bring some shoes that they don’t mind getting wet and dirty.
